I wrote about hormone balancing skincare a couple of weeks ago (you can read about it here). I want to write a bit more on skincare this week.
Over the last three to four months I have had several people comment on my skin and want to know what I’ve been using. Let’s talk about it because it’s not a secret.
Natural Skincare for Aging Skin
Women can spend hundreds of dollars on skincare products each year. The majority of those skincare products contain questionable ingredients that are not at all safe for our bodies. Yes, they may do wondrous things to make us look younger, but at what cost? Have you researched the ingredients in your skincare products? If not, I encourage you to do so. It could be very eye opening…and disturbing.
My skincare routine is very simple. If you know me personally or have been following my blog over this past year, then you know I use essential oil products on my skin (and pretty much everything else in my life).
Why essential oils?
Essential oils are derived from natural sources known as trees, flowers, shrubs, rinds, weeds, roots and other natural plant sources. Everything man needs to exist was provided to us naturally on this earth.
The essential oils I specifically use are free from pesticides, fertilizers and any other toxic chemical used to grow large crops. Therefore, no toxic ingredient enters my body. Don’t be fooled and use just any essential oils. Know the source or you may inadvertently continue to apply toxins on your skin.
I cannot tell you how much essential oils have helped my skin! Specifically, Frankincense.
What is Frankincense?
Frankincense Essential Oil is distilled from the Boswellia tree. It is native to the Arabian Peninsula and northeastern Africa. Its soothing aroma is woody, yet smells spicy at the same time.
Whenever I teach a class on essential oils, I tell people that there is a reason Frankincense was given to Jesus. It is a powerhouse essential oil and I’m living proof of it. It has so many amazing health benefits!
Cosmetically, Frankincense is used as an astringent—meaning it has properties that cause skin cells and other body tissues to shrink. It also contains cytophylactic properties, which means it stimulates the generation of new cells. Hence all the comments about my face. Frankincense is magic in a bottle!
I normally apply Frankincense to my skin in a homemade face serum at bedtime that includes a handful of other essential oils, along with rosehip oil. It doesn’t take much of it to reap the benefits. Frankincense has done amazing things for me, including watching the dark circles under my eyes disappear (if only I had before and after photos). Sometimes, I simply roll Frankincense on my face without diluting it.
The point is, Frankincense is the key ingredient to my skincare regimen. Actually, I believe it should be a part of everyone’s skincare regimen!
Frankincense isn’t just for skincare! There is a whole lot more to this little bottle of magic known as Frankincense Essential Oil.
Frankincense contains properties that have been shown to calm and relax the body. It is also a very good oil when you need to focus and calm your mind. By applying Frankincense to my face each night, my body and mind are also benefiting. You can also get these same benefits aromatically through a diffuser or simply inhaling the bottle.
There are so many health benefits to this amazing oil, but thanks to some FDA regulations, I am prohibited from talking about some of the specific ones. Google Frankincense and see for yourself all of the amazing health benefits to be gleaned from using it.
What I am allowed to say is that Frankincense is an amazing oil for overall skin support. I cannot emphasize this enough!
Ladies, incorporate Frankincense into your skincare regimen! Your aging skin will thank you!
